Shooting Sports League for 7th/8th grade students at EGMS
Tomorrow is the first day of school and we cannot wait to see our EAGLES!
A few quick reminders:
Arrival: Students may enter campus at 7:05. They should report to 1st period unless they are eating breakfast. The tardy bell rings at 7:20. If your student arrives after 7:25, a parent/guardian will need to park and walk into the front office to check them in.
NO Parents will be allowed to walk students to class. We will have several duty personnel who have a list of all homerooms and will direct the students where to go if they are unsure.
Pick up: School is dismissed at 2:25. Please take the time tonight to make sure your child knows how they are going home tomorrow. If your child is a bus rider and you are unsure which bus and what time to be at the bus stop, visit https://findmyschool.us/bossierla Enter your address and click find my bus. You will be able to see approximate pick up and drop off times. WRITE THE BUS NUMBER DOWN and bring it to school in your backpack. Please be early on the first day and expect a few delays for the first week of school.
Supplies: Students can bring their school supplies over the first few days of school if they have too much to carry on the first day.
Cell Phone Policy: NEW PHONE policy states that all student's phones must be turned off any put in their backpacks when entering campus. This means when getting off of the bus and exiting their car. Please help us remind students of this. This includes earbuds, headphones, and smartwatches.

Bossier Schools sent an email to parents yesterday informing all parents in the district of Act 313, a new cell phone law passed during the 2024 spring Louisiana legislative session that restricts students from using cell phones and other electronic devices during the instructional day.
We would like for you to be aware of the consequences defined for all middle school campuses, per the new policy. Please review this information and discuss it with your student prior to the start of the school year.

Bossier Schools has revised its cell phone policy in response to a new state law that restricts students from using cell phones and other electronic devices during the instructional day. Please note the following revisions:
Cell phones must be turned off and stowed during instructional time, including from the time students get on/off the bus or in/out of a personal vehicle while on campus;
Electronic communication devices, including but not limited to personal computers, laptops, electronic instruments, iPads, iPods, tablet devices, e-readers or similar devices, must be powered off and properly stowed for the duration of the school day.
Each violation will result in the collection of the cell phone/electronic device. More information regarding disciplinary action can be found in school handbooks.
*Please note the revised policy does not apply to students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP)/Individualized Accommodation Plan (IAP), Section 504 plan or Individualized Health Plan that requires use of an electronic telecommunication device.
As the first day approaches please make sure that you have completed the 24-25 Annual Registrations by logging into your OnCourse Parent Portal. (ALL EGMS Students need to have their Annual Registration completed by the start of school.) You will receive an automated email when you submit it and then will receive another automated email when we have successfully processed it. Please check your email frequently because annual registrations will be returned with instructions if there are any changes that need to be completed by you.

Make sure you are uploading valid documents-
1. Utility bill at the address on record and in the parent' name. Electric, gas, water, internet. Bill must be current-disconnect notices cannot be accepted.
2. Current mortgage statement, homestead exemption paper, or lease agreement at the address on record and in the PARENT/GUARDIAN's name.
Both documents must be CURRENT and in the PARENT/GUARDIAN's Name.
🚨If you reside with someone else and the bills/lease are not in the parent/guardian's name, you will need to visit the school and fill our a residency form with the person you reside with.🚨
Currently, we have about 300 students whose registration has not been finalized.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out to the school. Email is the best and most efficient way to communicate with us during this time as the secretary and registrar are often on the phone assisting other parents.

6th Grade Students
The Bossier Chamber of Commerce will be holding their annual 'Pack the Bus' school supply drive benefiting Bossier Schools. We hope you'll help out with this year's event! Come by the Wal-Mart Supercenter Thursday, August 1 from 11:30 to 1:30 and drop off much needed supplies to help our teachers fill the gaps in their classrooms.

Our amazing Eagle Pride Line attended dance camp this week!
The girls did an amazing job! They learned four new dances and performed three of them Friday in front of their families, friends, and all of the other dance teams in the parish! Mrs. Desselle and Mrs. Donathan are so unbelievably proud of them and the hard work that they put in this week! They received the spirit stick on Tuesday and received the award for “Fiercest Faces” Friday! We cannot wait to continue to get better and perform these dances for y’all!
