Middle school finalists from five parishes went head to head at the first statewide National Civics Bee competition and two Bossier students finished in the top three.

Om Ganapathy from Benton Middle School and Kamilyah Woodrow from Elm Grove Middle School demonstrated exceptional knowledge at the LABI Foundation Louisiana State Civics Bee held in partnership with the Bossier Chamber of Commerce in Shreveport. Ganapathy emerged as the second place winner and received $500. Woodrow took the third place spot and was awarded $250. Both also received trophies and gifts from Amazon.

The goal of the Civics Bee was to explore how civic engagement, leadership and economic opportunity intersect to build a stronger future for Louisiana.

We are so proud of the way these two students represented Bossier Schools and congratulate them on this outstanding achievement!
